ROMAN CATHOLIC TERRORISTS CARRIED OUT

"ETHNIC CLEANSING"

(EX-I.R.A. MAN LIFTS THE LID ON THE GENOCIDE OF ULSTER PROTESTANTS)

A former Republican paramilitary has admitted openly in the Sunday Times of 29th March 1998, that the Roman Catholic terrorists of the I.R.A. (whose political allies, Sinn Fein, now sit in the "Peace Process" discussing our future), waged a war of "Ethnic Cleansing" against Protestants in the border areas of Fermanagh, Tyrone and Armagh. Vincent McKenna, who has now become a peace campaigner, claims that the East Tyrone Brigade of the I.R.A., led by Jim Lynagh who was killed by the S.A.S. at Loughgall in 1988, planned to drive the Protestant population out of Tyrone bit by bit. The strategy was based on Mao's guerilla warfare strategy. The aim was to create "liberated areas" or zones where no Protestants would be left to defend the land. To that end, prominent farmers, businessmen, heads of households and only sons were targeted. McKenna said of the policy - "that way we would get the territory, a field at a time. The bottom line was sectarian."

SO NOW WE HAVE THE TRUTH AT LAST.

THE ROMAN CATHOLIC I.R.A. HAVE A PLAN FOR YOU!!!

STUDENTS ACCUSE NUNS OF SEXUAL ABUSE

By ROSEMARY WEST, Religious Affairs Reporter Two former Catholic school students have alleged nuns sexually abused them in a Melbourne college and a South Australian convent. The former students made the allegations to a telephone help-line run by Broken Rites, a mutual support and advocacy group for victims of abuse. A former student at Genazzano College in Kew told the help-line that she was sexually abused by a nun at the school in 1966. Ms Chris Wilding, the convener of Broken Rites, said it was the second report she had received of sexual abuse in Catholic convents. The second woman alleged she was sexually abused at the age of 14 by two older girls in the presence of a nun in Les Pines Home of Compassion, more than 30 years ago. The Home was a Catholic girls Home run by the Good Shepherd Sisters in South Australia. Ms Wilding said there was evidence the alleged perpetrators in the two cases may have abused others. Ms Wilding said the former student told her she had been abused almost every day by a teaching nun in the classroom after school. The nun, who is now dead, would digitally rape her and then beat her with the blackboard ruler. Then the nun would ring the girl's parents and tell them she had been kept in for bad behaviour and she would be punished again when she got home. At the end of the year, the girl told her father of the abuse and pleaded to be allowed to go to the High School. But he did not believe her and said it would break her mother's heart if she left Genazzano. Two years later the girl's father told her another girl had made a similar report and that he now believed her. The nun had been moved to another school where she was made principal and had contracted stomach cancer. Sister Maryrose Dennehy, the provincial of the Faithful Companions of Jesus, which runs Genazzano and a former principal and deputy principal of the school said she was "shocked and surprised" to hear of allegations against nuns. She had taught with the nun in question at the time and had heard of no allegations of sexual abuse against her. She appealed to the woman making the allegation to come forward and said she would listen to her and do her best to offer whatever help she could. She did not know whether she could investigate the allegation as both the nun in question and the principal at the time have died. She said she had never heard any allegations of sexual abuse by nuns, though she had heard of five or six allegations of Sisters striking children over the 20 years of her involvement with the school. "Even then (in the 1960's) that was not considered acceptable," she said. Ms Wilding said the help-line had received many other reports from women of cruelty and non-sexual abuse in Catholic schools in the 1950's and 1960's.

RAPE AT AN ALL-GIRLS HOME

At 13, Veronica ran away from home to escape ill-treatment by a strict RC mother. She was sent to Les Pines girls home which, she says, was virtually a reformatory, where hardened offenders mixed with teenage victims of child abuse and neglect. The girls were used as "slave labour" in a laundry run by the nuns, Veronica says. A particularly "masculine" nun was in charge of the laundry, she recalls, with two much older girls. These girls had been prostitutes who had bashed and robbed their clients and scared the younger girls. The girls slept in dormitories in curtained-off cubicles. One night, the two girls came to her bed and raped her with a candle. One held a pillow over her head and pinned her arms down while the other raped her. They told her if she stopped yelling they would take the pillow off her head. As they left, she noticed the nun standing at the foot of her bed with a torch. The nun handed her a flannelette menstrual pad to staunch her bleeding and warned her not to talk about it. "You know what happens to people who tell lies," she told her. More than 35 years have passed and Veronica had never spoken to anyone about it, not even her husband, until she rang Broken Rites. She was concerned all the media coverage was about abuse by men, whereas her experience was of abuse by women. The experience left her unable to relate to women and afraid of sex.

"CHRISTIAN BROTHERS" APOLOGISE FOR PHYSICAL AND SEXUAL ABUSE OF PUPILS

The Christian Brothers have expressed their "deep regret" to anyone who has been ill treated while in their care in schools or residential centres. In a surprising advertising blitz in papers on both sides of the Border, the Brothers - who taught thousands of boys in the North - have moved to patch up damaged relations with individuals who were sexually abused at the institutions. Alliance party President, Philip McGarry, said only the victims could determine if saying sorry was adequate. He said the apology was belated but welcome but added that it shouldn't put off victims seeking compensation from going through the court system if necessary.

In a message contained in several papers yesterday and today, costing thousands of pounds, the Brothers express their "deep sorrow to those who have experienced physical or sexual abuse by a Brother and to those who complained of abuse but were not listened to."

In a statement the Congregation of the Irish Christian Brothers said: "We want to do more than say we are sorry. As an initial step we have already put in place services to offer a practical response and further services will be provided as needs become clearer."

The Christian Brothers insisted that the message is "more than an apology" and is part of a process which began two years ago with the publication of guidelines to schools.

They said: "It has been clear for some time that people have been hurt by their experiences while in the care of the Christian Brothers. We want to acknowledge the fact that people have been hurt, listen to what they have to say and try to respond. We are trying to create an environment where healing and reconciliation can take place and where people who have been hurt can be helped to leave that hurt behind them." " We also want to create a possibility of reconciliation" added the statement.

The adverts also say that those seeking independent and confidential help can use a freephone number which is 0800 973272 or contact the Brothers directly by writing to: The Irish Christian Brothers, Freepost, Dept. IE 8018, P.O. Box 788, Belfast, BT1 1XX.

Derry journalist Eamonn McCann, who has written extensively about those who suffered at the hands of Christian Brothers, said the apology and intended action of the Order showed that the State authorities, both North and South, were continuing to ignore the plight of victims.

CHURCH LOSES ITS GRIP ON QUEBEC

Once-Solid Rock of Identity Fades

Into Background

By Barbara Borst, Associated Press

MONTREAL - The bishops who reigned supreme in Quebec for more than a century would wince. These days church pews are rarely filled, and more couples in Quebec live together unmarried than anywhere else in Canada. The Roman Catholic Church, once the rock on which French Canadians built their identity, now plays a radically diminished role in Quebec society. Though nearly all of the province's six million French-speakers have Catholic roots, less than ten per cent attend Mass regularly, compared with ninety per cent a few decades ago. Once-pervasive Church influence over politics and culture has faded almost totally.

Over the comimg months, Quebec will be taking a major step that underscores the Church's declining influence. With broad popular support, the provincial government is converting the public education system from one managed by Catholic and Protestant school boards to one run by French- and English-language boards. Quebec's legislature voted unanimously to make the switch. It won easy approval in the federal House of Commons in November, and assent by the Senate is expected this month…..

"Quebeckers no longer identify themselves as Catholic or Protestant, but as French-speaking or English-speaking," said Christiane Miville-Deschenes, press attache for Quebec's education minister.

It is a big comedown for the Catholic Church, which founded Quebec's school system and for decades controlled education, teacher training, welfare and health care.

YELTSIN IN VATICAN

The Pope held talks with Russian President Boris Yeltsin lasting fifty minutes in John Paul's private library. The Vatican said the political and social situation in Russia as well as "the contribution of the faithful toward an evermore harmonious and united society" were discussed.

The Pope and Yeltsin seemed pleased with the meeting.

LEGALISE HEROIN - SAYS R.C. PRIEST

A priest in the Republic yesterday called for drugs, including heroin, to be decriminalised - and the establishment of drug distribution centres for addicts. Father Gerry Rafferty, who works with addicts, made his plea at a Dublin conference of the national crime forum. The Galway-born priest said decriminalising heroin would take control of the drug from dealers.

He said yesterday: "It is time to consider decriminalisation and limited legislation of drug use in order to take the supply of drugs out of the hands of criminals and to minimise harm associated with drug use."

SCHOOL GIRLS BURNT IN ASH WEDNESDAY CEREMONY

Priests in a border parish have apologised because a wrong mix, used for the Ash Wednesday ceremonies, burned the foreheads of several churchgoers. Schools were contacted at Castleblayney shortly after it was discovered the "ashes" mix administered by priests at the Muckno parish church in County Monaghan had caused problems. Students were advised to wash off their facial "mark of the cross" but according to a spokesperson at one school, some girls who didn't get to the bathroom in time, were left with a brown scar which, it is hoped, will eventually vanish. Several other parishioners went to local doctors after the ashes mark began to cause irritation and blisters appeared.

EMBARRASSED

Embarrassed clergy have declined to comment on the incident which is understood to have been caused by a chemical mix for the Lenten ceremony which went wrong. A lay Church spokesperson said: "What happened is very regrettable, to say the least, and the clergy have expressed a profound apology to everyone who has suffered from having the ashes applied. This was something that has never happened before, during Ash Wednesday ceremonies."

MONK CAN HEAL THE SICK AND CHANGE THE WEATHER

RECIFE, BRAZIL - A 93-year old monk is revered as a living saint because he can heal the sick, cure the lame - and even change the weather with a wave of his hand. For more than half a century, Frei Damiao, a hunchbacked Catholic monk has been mesmerising the people of Brazil with his eloquent preaching and scores of well-documented, mind-boggling miracles. Many witnesses claim the amazing man has turned stone into bread, water into gasoline, made paralysed people walk again…..even caused rain to fall and the wind to howl.

"The miracles are there - proven and authenticated." Said Abdalariz de Moura, a former professor of theology at the Theological Institute at Recife, who has spent years thoroughly investigating the monk's life. "Although he denies his miracles, we have registered 80 events that have been properly documented," the well-respected de Moura said. "Once while giving a sermon, the Frei was being heckled by disbelievers," de Moura recounted. "He opened his arms and all the lights in the city went out and the sky became totally dark. After the hecklers calmed down, the Frei opened his arms and the lights came on again."

De Moura recalled that in 1983, farmers near the city of Nova Olinda, then stricken by drought, came to the Frei for help. "He told them not to worry….that three rains would come," de Moura said. "It rained exactly three times, and even with that small amount of rain, the farmers had their best harvests ever."

Former Brazilian politician, Antonio Ferreira, remembered the time he saw the Frei change the weather with a wave of his hand. "He created wind and rain…..just by moving his hands," Ferreira said.

Joseja de Souza recounted another incident. Her husband, she said, was driving the Frei to a ceremony when the car ran out of gas. "The Frei calmly told my husband to fill the gas tank with water," she explained. "They drove 86 miles with a gas tank filled with water."

But Frei Damiao refused to discuss his amazing miracles.

APPARITIONS HALTED DUE TO TRAFFIC CHAOS!

After more than a decade of public appearances - and a string of complaints about traffic congestion caused by pilgrims - the Virgin Mary is to leave Ireland to return to God, a Tipperary "visionary" has proclaimed. Fiona Tierney, who runs the Immaculate House of Prayer near Roscrea, said she was given the message by Our Lady during a final vision at a grotto near the roundabout on the Limerick to Dublin road last week. Police said more than 2,500 people travelled from all over the country to stand while Mrs. Tierney, 22, awaited an "apparition" of the Virgin Mary.

Her husband, Donal, said: "We were all praying in the rain when Fiona saw The Virgin and the baby Jesus. Mary spoke to her for more than an hour. Fiona went into a kind of ecstasy."

Mr. Tierney said there would be no more appearances because Our Lady was "being taken back from Earth to her rightful place in Heaven."

Mrs. Tierney claimed Our Lady was wearing a cream dress with a cream cloak and a pinky-red sash around her waist. She had brown hair and a long, delicate nose. The crowd gasped as Mrs. Tierney said that Jesus had also appeared "dressed as a king with a crown on his head, red cloak and white tunic underneath with his arms open and blood flowing from his hands". Mrs. Tierney claimed Our Lady's words, which only she could hear, were:

"Children, I come this day as mother of all nations, I am a sorrowful mother for there is a lack of peace in your world. I pray that you will hearken to the voice of your mother, Mary, patron of the aborted."

Our Lady was said to have indicated there would soon be a warning to the world which would come in the form of all machines stopping….If people did not then change their sinful ways there would be a "chastisement". She had revealed in a "personal message" to Mrs. Tierney that there would be no more public "visions", although she still might appear to her in private.

Mrs. Tierney first claimed to have had visions of Our Lady when she was eleven and living near Inchigeelagh grotto in County Cork. Huge crowds had gathered to watch her and other young girls enter a trance-like state during vigils. She and her sister Marcia Mooney, 24, who has also had "visions", moved to Roscrea "on the instructions of Our Lady" two years ago and a derelict house was turned into the Immaculate House of Prayer.

A local priest, who asked not to be named, said he was relieved the "visions" seemed to have ended. "They have caused an awful lot of road disruption here and I can only view this young lady's claims with a great deal of doubt. God's interventions in this world are very rare indeed. His last one was nearly 2,000 years ago and we're still trying to come to terms with the implications of that. It seems also that the message received by Mrs. Tierney has been one of a lack of hope rather than the joy and salvation that is proclaimed in the gospels. That is a great shame."

THIS VISION WAS TOO MUCH FOR EVEN ROME TO SWALLOW!!!
