PASTOR CAMPBELL PUTS THE ISRAEL-KINGDOM MESSAGE ON SATELLITE CHANNEL 770

Dear Friends and Co-Workers, the last year has been a challenging one for Open-Bible Ministries and yet it has been a year of great blessing and miraculous provision.

First let me report on the good news. Thanks to, two especially generous gifts we have been able to negotiate a one year contract with the Gospel Channel - Sky Television Channel 770 and so the Israel/Kingdom Message "The Bible Stands" is going forth to a potentially vast audience on Wednesday evenings at 10.00pm and repeated on Sunday mornings at 9.30am. The station itself is based in Iceland, and some of our older readers may recall how the late Dr Rutherford identified Iceland, as part of the Tribe of Benjamin - “a light to the nations”. This is a truly remarkable breakthrough and we feel that the cost of over £20,000 is money well spent. Our new Phone Line has also brought increased response to our Radio Programmes.

In spite of my periods of illness during the year, and that of some other key workers we have done our best to keep all aspects of the work going. I addressed 126 meetings - including trips to London, Durham and Somerset and have just returned from a two and a half week preaching tour of North America, addressing Conventions in Toronto, Vancouver and Spokane.

We have had to cut the magazine editions from 6 to 4 per year at present. We have published "Five Bishops who Rome Burned" based on my Marian Martyr sermon, also the classic "How God Won the War" and "Why Henry VIII broke with Rome".

Glyn Jones continues to do an excellent job with CD’s, cassettes and the Internet. We wish to put on record our thanks to him and John Watson (TV and Radio), Ken Davidson for his excellent preaching and to Tommy Doyle, who has driven me to night meetings since I was unwell.

We believe God has much work for us to do and we trust Him for the strength to carry on the tasks.

RUSSIANS "INVADE" NORTH POLE

Three deep ocean ridges separate the Arctic Ocean into four basins

A blatant move that is somewhat under the radar in world news reports is Russia’s expansion of its borders through the Arctic. One source says Russia’s quest for power may effectively set it up as a leader of all armed forces against true lsrael in the End Times.

Russian scientists spent six weeks in the Arctic and then claimed that a 1,200 mile underwater formation the Lomonosov Ridge is
geologically linked to the Siberian continental platform. The towering mountain range is one of three submarine ridges that separate the Arctic Ocean into four basins. Danish scientists have tried to prove that the Lomonosov Ridge is an extension of Greenland, which would make Denmark another claimant to the area.

The Russians are arguing against a UN ruling that no nation can claim jurisdiction over the Arctic seabed because the geological structure does not match surrounding continental shelves. Russia, Canada, the United States, Norway, and Denmark are currently limited to a 200 mile “economic zone” around their coasts.

Why has Russia suddenly gone public with its Arctic claim? Some geologists believe the Lomonosov Ridge has ten billion tons of gas and oil deposits plus significant sources of diamonds, gold, tin, manganese, nickel, lead, and platinum! A British diplomat told the UK’s Daily Mail,

"Putin wants a strong Russia, and Western dependence on it for oil and gas supplies is a key part of his strategy. He no longer cares if it upsets the West.”

Russia is making alliances with oil producing Arab and Islamist states, signing gas and oil exploration and development agreements, in a strategy to control not only the world's natural resources, but also its political power. Russia’s Iranian connection hinges on arms and nuclear technology in exchange for gas and oil.

Gog (modern day Russia) and its allies will one day attack Israel (Ezekiel 38:9). The only way Russia could conceive of being so bold is to believe that it can do so without reprisals from the nations who would move to support Israel. In other words, Russia needs strong leverage, and the massive energy resources Putin has “claimed” in his Arctic invasion would be leverage enough.

GERMAN POLICE TAKE HOMESCHOOLER TO PSYCH WARD

A nation whose education officials already have warned that they will, when necessary, “bring religious convictions of the family into line" with state requirements, now has removed a 16 year-old girl from her family and placed her in a child psychiatry unit after she turned in below-expected grades in maths and Latin.

The news of nearly two dozen officials and uniformed police officers physically taking the teen from her home in front of her shocked family is just the latest horror story to come out of Germany, where homeschooling was first placed under a ban by Adolf Hitler.

The student in the newest case was identified by the German organization as Melissa Busekros. She has been removed from her parents’ custody, and placed in the Child Psychiatry Unit of the Nuremberg clinic, her father Hubert Busekros, told the homeschool group (Net Education Freedom)...

"It is not known when Melissa's parents and siblings will be able to see her again, as the official approach in cases of ‘school phobia’ is to completely prevent the ‘patient’ from having any contact with those closest to him or her, as such contact supposedly enables the phobia,” the homeschooling network said.

Michael Farris, co-founder of the Home School Legal Defense Association, has called for an amendment to the US Constitution to protect the right of parents to educate their children at home, in light of such developments in Europe.

DUTCH BISHOP CALLS FOR GOD TO BE CALLED "ALLAH"

Speaking on Dutch television on August 13, the Rt Rev Tiny Muskens, Roman Catholic Bishop of Breda in the Netherlands, urged Christians to call God "Allah" and predicted that within 100 years the name would be used in Dutch churches.

A former missionary Bishop Muskens said:

"Someone like me has prayed to ‘Allah yang maha kuasa’ (Almighty God) for eight years in Indonesia and other priests for 20 or 30 years. In the heart of the Eucharist, God is called Allah over there, so why can’t we start doing that together?”

The name Allah or Lord is a human construct that cannot adequately capture the divine name, he told Dutch television.The name of God is above “discussion and bickering” he argued, calling for the language of God to be used so as to attract rather than repel believers to faith

The catechism of the Roman Catholic Church states in Article 841:

"The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”

Falling back upon the catechism for his support, Bishop Muskens has argued that as Christians and Muslims worship the same God, it is immaterial how God is named.

 

RAMADAN AT THE WHITE HOUSE

 

President Bush seemingly embraced the Islamic faith as he addressed his Muslim guests at a Ramadan feast he hosted at the White House. The “lftaar” dinner was established by Bush as an official event to appreciate and recognize Muslims and their faith. After concluding his praise of Islam as a religion that brings the world hope and comfort, the president introduced a Muslim Imam to say a “blessing”. After thanking those attending for their presence he told his audience,

"Tonight we celebrate traditions of Islamic faith, which brings hope and comfort to more than a billion people. For Muslims around the world, the holy month of Ramadan is a special time of prayer and fasting. It is a time for charity and service to those less fortunate. It's a time to celebrate Islam's learned and vibrant culture, which has enriched civilization for centuries.”

"Ramadan is also a good time for Americans of all faiths to reflect on the values we hold in common including love of family, gratitude to the Almighty, devotion to community, and a commitment to religious Iiberty. The freedom of worship is central to the American character. It’s the first protection in the Bill of Rights. It holds together the fabric of American society supporting every individual’s right to practise his or her beliefs without fear.”

RUSSIAN FIGHTER PLANES' SALE TO SYRIA

June 19. Israel is concerned about reported Russian deliveries of advanced MIG-31 fighter planes to Syria as part of an armaments drive, according to the Hebrew daily,Yediot Aharonot.

The MiG-31, considered one of the best fighters in the world, can carry guided missiles with a range of more than 200 kilometres (125 miles) and is capable of striking 24 different targets simultaneously.

Yuval Steinitz, an MP from Israel's right wing opposition Likud party, was quoted as telling the daily,

"If Syria acquires the MiG-31 we can no longer rule out the idea that this country is preparing for war."

Steinitz was a former chairman of Israel's defence and foreign affairs parliamentary committee

SPOTLIGHT ON THE PALESTINIAN SITUATION

A THREE STATE SOLUTION

The Hamas takeover of Gaza revealed deep divisions within the Palestinian identity.

And while some think the split between Fatah and Hamas will be temporary, the vision of a united Palestine state living alongside Israel seems more remote than ever.

There is now a growing opinion that believes a three state solution makes historical sense. To a large extent, the people of Gaza and the West Bank are two different peoples. With the exception of the joint distribution of foreign aid and political patronage, the two regions have very little to tie them together.

Gaza, from the early 1800s, was culturally dominated by neighbouring Egypt, and a large number of its residents were Egyptians.

The West Bank, on the other hand, became culturally and economically linked with Jordan after the kingdom’s founding in 1921. It also has had a prosperous Christian minority, which served as a moderating influence.

After the establishment of Israel in 1948 there were quite different results. In 1950, Jordan annexed the West Bank, granted its residents citizenship and created a bureaucratic and legal infrastructure that helped connect the West Bank with the rest of the Arab world. The Egyptian occupation of Gaza, however, was both careless and brutal. Gazans remained stateless and were forbidden to leave the strip. Egypt never created a Gazan civil service, placing Egyptians in charge of all civil and military posts.

More than a million refugees and their descendants live in the Gaza Strip, making up more than 84% of the total population and nearly 50% still live in camps.

The much larger West Bank integrated its refugees far more successfully. Only 26% of refugees are in camps there representing less than 10% of the total population. Because they have family and economic ties to the West Bank, they are more rooted and amenable to political compromise.

The West Bank has been the staging area for the vast majority of suicide bombings during the Palestinian uprising that began in 2000.

ABBAS FORMS EMERGENCY GOVERNMENT

Faced with the worst humiliation so far in his troubled time as President, Abbas wasted no time in dissolving the Hamas dominated Palestinian Unity Government that was formed less than 3 months before.

The PA leader replaced it on June 15 with an "emergency government” made up mostly of technocrats led by former Finance Minister SALAM FAYYAD, who was elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council in 2006 as head of the new “Third Way” political party. Born in Jordan and a graduate of the University of Texas Austin campus, Fayyad spent two decades living in the United States part of that time working at the World Bank. The former economist has strong ties to the Bush Administration.

This well known fact naturally makes him an American lackey in the eyes of many Palestinians, and a probable target of Hamas attack.

Seemingly confirming Fayyad’s “collaborator” status in many Arab eyes, Western leaders flocked to endorse the new cabinet, followed later on by China and other world powers.

WHO IS MAHMOUD ABBAS?

For decades Mahmoud Abbas was one of Yasser Arafat’s inner circle, a top PLO lieutenant who planned, approved of, and/or openly supported the murder and maiming of thousands of Jewish men, women and children in numerous acts of terrorism. And he has always refused to restrain or criticize in any way, the Fatah’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades which has carried out more acts of terrorism than Hamas.

His doctoral thesis denied the Holocaust, and he has repeatedly rejected the Jews’ historic claim to their heartland. He does not hesitate in allowing “Palestinian” television to freely broadcast lies and anti-semitic libels against the State of Israel and the Jewish people.

ISRAEL’S DESTRUCTION IS IN NEAR FUTURE

The Iranian President also said earlier in June 2007 that the world will witness the destruction of Israel in the near future. Mr. Ahmadinejad made his remarks in a speech marking the 18th anniversary of the death of revolutionary founder Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Iranian media quoted the president as telling foreign guests that last year's war between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon had started the countdown to Israel's destruction.

40 SYRIAN GENERALS ON MISSION TO TEHRAN

April 23, 07. DEBKA FILE reports on a secret mission of high ranking generals to Iran.

Led by Maj. Gen. Yahya L. Solayman, War Planning chief at the Syrian armed forces General Staff, the delegation represents all branches of the Syrian armed forces. On their arrival on April 18, the Syrian officers went straight into conference with Iranian defense minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad Najjar, Revolutionary Commanders chief Major GeneralYahya Rahim Safavi and deputy chief of staff Major General Hassani Sa’di, who is Iran's chief of military war preparations.

The Syrian visitors were taken around Revolutionary Guards and armed forces training installations and given a display of the latest Iranian weapons systems, including stealth missiles, electronic warfare appliances and undersea missiles and torpedoes. They also visited the big Imam Au training base in N. Tehran, where hundreds of Lebanese Hizbullah and Palestinian Hamas and Jihad Islami terrorists are taking courses.

HAMAS GETTING LONGER RANGE MISSILES

Military Intelligence Chief Major General Amos Yadlin reported to the Knesset Defence Committee that in Gaza, Hamas possessed Grad missiles with a range of 20 kilometers that have yet to be fired at Israel.

Yadlin also warned that shoulder fired missiles, with a range of 40 kilometers, could soon be smuggled into the Gaza Strip.

ASSAD ADVOCATES DIPLOMATIC TALKS, BUT PREPARES FOR WAR

The UN Security Council’s decision to establish an international court to try Basher Assad and his relatives for the murder of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri has made the Syrian government frantic. This development may come at Israel’s expense, as within the battle for his survival, Assad may embark on a war against Israel sooner than expected.
