Kingdom Tidings November/December 2005

Many stories have come down to us about the Battle of Trafalgar:the meeting with his captains to explain the tactics for the battle, the fabled "Nelson Touch", the famous signal he sent as the British fleet went into attack "England expects that every man will do his duty", and, most poignantly, the prayer he wrote in anticipation of events:

"May the great God whom I worship, grant to my country, and for the benefit of Europe in general, a great and glorious victory; and may no misconduct in anyone tarnish it; and may humanity after victory be the predominant feature of the British fleet. For myself individually I commit my life to Him who made me and may his blessing alight upon my endeavours for serving my country faithfully.To Him I resign myself and the just cause which is entrusted to me to defend.

Truly Nelson was a great Briton whose naval victories at the Nile, Copenhagen and Trafalgar, over the French, laid the basis for Great Britain to expand into the prophesied "Nation and Company of Nations."

John Wycliffe, William Tyndale, Hugh Latimer and Thomas Cranmer are names which are fast fading from human memory and, if presented on a modern quiz programme, it is doubtful if the context in which these men lived, would be known. Modern 'pop' stars and their contribution to the cacophony of noise which passes for modern music are well known but men who, under God, dragged the Bookof Life from the dark chambers of priestly prerogatives and brought it into the light of day, are utterly forgotten. These men, striving with every resource available to them even giving their lives for their dedication gave the Book in which is magnified 'above all the Name of God' to the people of the Book that they might read, mark and inwardly digest the Directives of the God Who had formed them for His praise. (lsaiah 43:21)

The Reformation was a tremendous epoch in history for it marked, not only the Reality of God, but it showed His concern for the national things of the world. His Promises concerning national things were suddenly transformed from the sphere of faith into the living experience of the Anglo-Celto-Saxon and kindred nations for, arising out of the era of the Open Book, these people developed on the stage of world history precisely as the Promises of God had indicated that Israel would develop.

However, after living for four centuries in the Light of the Word of Life, the people of the Book, in spite of their involvement in the demonstration of the Faithfulness of God to His Promises, were and are ill-equipped to cope with the insidious eroding processes of the anti God conspiracy which marks the end of the age. (Matthew 24: 11-12) This is indeed paradoxical for it is inconceivable that generations, steeped and indeed saturated in Bible experience, should be inadequately equipped to meet the challenge posed by the 'powers of darkness' (Ephesians 6:12) at the end of the age.

The mighty demonstration of God's national Purpose in the earth was not recognised and the call of the prophets of Israel was not heeded for 'the mystery of iniquity' (II Thessalonians 2:7), already at work in apostolic and post apostolic times, had laid the foundation of unbelief and so diverted the Truth of God into the stream of nebulous human speculation. While the words of the Lord Jesus Christ were still ringing in the ears of His hearers

men were refuting this by changing the centre of gravity, so to speak, from the earthly scene to the heavenly sphere. Men were encouraged to forget their identities even repudiating these as a reminder of their former 'carnal' selves, thus burying themselves in doctrines which gratify the individual ego and which deprive the greater portion of the Word of God of meaning. This situation has obtained for almost seventeen centuries and has, in these days, intensified to an unprecedented magnitude for the express purpose of destroying God's Holy Word and the people of His Book.

It may be considered as 'old hat' to reconsider the Bible narrative in general but as pressure from anti-God powers increases, it behoves the 'little flock' to recharge their batteries, as it were, that they may not be found wanting at the appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ Who comes as King of kings and Lord of lords.

When one considers the Bible as a whole, i.e., both Old and New Testaments, for it must be remembered that the Old is as important as the New, one finds that the national message, in proportion to that of the individual message, commands attention. A simple exercise of the intellect will reveal and confirm this.

In the first instance, the structure of the Bible, i.e., the history as it is unfolded by the canonical Books of the Holy Scriptures, shows an amazing pattern of emphasis on the national aspect of its narrative. The mighty works of Creation, that of all living things up to the establishment of man, 'male and female' are told in one chapter of thirty one verses. Brevity is the keynote here as it is in respect of Adam, his fall and God's promised redemption. All in all, three chapters suffice to narrate the events which led to the first recorded Promise by God in His Word.

A further eight chapters are devoted to the history of Adam's progeny, their suicidal integration with the 'Nephilim' or 'giants of old' (Genesis 6:4), the great Flood, God's second Promise and the family line of Noah reaching down through the line of Shem to Abraham. Two hundred and ninety nine verses are taken up by way of focusing attention on the point where God's first Promise of shattering Satan's impact on Creation (Genesis 3: 15) begins to crystallize. The remaining thirty eight chapters of the first Book of the Bible and the further thirty eight Books of the Old Testament deal exclusively with the covenanted progeny of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

All this, it is claimed, is irrelevant as it happened some four thousand years ago and so has no bearing on events today. This is precisely what Satan would like all people to believe for it very effectively confuses the issue of the covenant people's relationship with other people an issue which today contributes to the downfall of Anglo-Saxondom. In these 'irrelevant' Scriptures the story is told of God in action creating and forming a national nucleus (lsaiah 43: t) not choosing one already in existence to accomplishHis Purposein the earth. "This people haveI formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise" (lsaiah 43:21). It is all too obvious that in the process of "formation", the Lord very carefully selected the foundation stock on which this national nucleus would be formed, for Ishmael, the first son of Abraham, was rejected as was Esau born to Isaac by Rebekah. No amount. of procrastination can alter these facts. Ishmael was not equal to God's Purpose nor was Esau - hence their rejection.

A nation was formed and moulded into the role of the Servants of God a role which was the basis of continual reminders by the Lord through His servants the prophets.

Time and again this phraseology is used and the nations round about were fully conversant with the fact that Israel was indeed God's servant nation.

To Cyrus, the Medo-Persian king, the Lord promised vast treasures because of what he, the king, would do "For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect" (lsaiah 45:4). Being the servant nation of the Lord and specifically His servants did not entail adopting a servile attitude to the nations of the world - this latter would confer Deity on the nations which, in some strange way, has happened in the context with Anglo-Saxondom selling her birthright in acquiescence to the demands of the nations of the world. This, of course, is the whole crux of the matter. Israel was made to conform to the role of servants of the Living God but because of national blindness to identity, the genetic factors which dictate national behaviour and which have been passed from father to son since the days of the patriarchs, have been misunderstood and misapplied, being directed to the service of the nations of the earth.

The Law of the Lord given to Israel at Sinai was the Directive of God Who, having created the nation with such meticulous care, knew the pitfalls and dangers which Israel would encounter in their future existence. In this, He made provison for the nation's conduct and the 'Law of relationships' figures very prominently in this. Very broadly, this makes provision for people of the same race to participate in all national privileges while those of mixed or spurious origins, together with those of another race, are not, under any circumstances, to have any part in the Israel body.

From the historical record of the subsequent happenings in the land of Canaan, it is all too obvious that this factor of relationships with the 'stranger' contributed to the downfall of the nation, the leaders of which were unable to cope with the extreme fascination of Israel for others. The nation was removed from the land and set on the long course of corrective punishment (Leviticus 26:27-45). As is well known, a very small remnant of the remnant of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin returned to the land and here, too, the old story is retold with the 'strangers' or 'foreigners' eventually taking over control of affairs even to the adopting of the name Israel without any resistance from true Israel.

This, very briefly, is the story told in the last thirty eight Books of the Old Testament and it cannot be denied that the national story of Abraham's covenanted progeny dominates the record. Before leaving this history, it will be noted that in the last Books of the Old Testament the Lord accepts responsibility for and assures national continuity to the Israel people. In this, the Lord guarantees His oath bound covenant and projects His Plan and Purpose in Israel into the future in such a manner as to preclude any thought of termination of this or, for that matter, any interpretation which suggests a change in His course of action.

Thus, the overwhelming evidence of the Old Testament is that the national message dominates whether in respect of Israel or the nations of the world.

I am writing this report on another years work for the Kingdom Message, in a hotel room as we try to meet the deadline for this Edition.

It has been another busy year and from September 2004-2005, I had the privilege of addressing 145 meetings. Outside of Ulster, meetings were held in mainland U.K. at Glasgow, Edinburgh, Durham, Carlisle, Shipley, Wellington and on several occasions at Orange Street Church in London, both for that Church and for B.I.B.T.F. I made two trips to North America between late July and early October speaking to groups in U.S.A. at Tacoma and Spokane and in Canada at Toronto, Schomberg, Burnaby, Chilliwick and Langley where there was a large gathering for the Annual Conference of our friends in C.A.I.

In addition to all this I have maintained our two weekly Radio Broadcasts which cover the whole of Northern Ireland, as well as parts of the Irish Republic and the coastal area of Scotland.

Our Website continues to be of a high standard and attracts folks worldwide enabling many to listen to the sermons and studies "on-line". As a Fellowship we want to pay tribute to Glyn Jones, without whose expertise this could not have been done. In addition he maintains our Tape Ministry sending out hundreds of cassettes per month. In order to assist him in advancing the ministry to keep pace with technical advances we are purchasing a high speed C.D. copier.

Demand for our literature continues and although pressure of time has prevented me from writing even one new book this year, we did reprint the Protestant classic "Women Martyrs of the Reformation". We also continue to send out "Kingdon Tidings" and "Romewatch International" on a bi-monthIy basis which is no easy task.

We are grateful to Almighty God who has enabled all of this to be achieved and we trust Him to lead, guide and direct us in the coming year. I also want to place on record my thanks to you the Co-Workers whose prayers, tithes and offerings have helped to make it possible.

Great challenges and exiting times lie ahead - let us not grow weary in well doing.

One of the most famous Christians in the history of Canada was a man named Leonard Tilly who was born in New Brunswick in 1818 and converted at the age of 21 under the ministry of Rev. William Harrison. Tilly became a prominent member of the Temperance Movement in Canada and even introduced a Prohibition Bill, when he entered politics.

He became Premier of New Brunswick and led that Province into the Confederation. It was Tilly who proposed that the newly confederated nation of Canada, be named a Dominion. This came about as a result of his reading this verse of scripture.

His suggestion for the name was accepted with enthusiam and he went on to be Minister of Finance in Ottowa, being knighted by Queen Victoria in 1879 for outstanding service in the Queen's Dominion of Canada.

Sadly the Huminists and "one worlders" who dominate Canada to-day and want to destroy and eradicate all reference to its Biblical and Israelite heritage - changed the Annual July holiday of "Dominion Day" to "Canada Day". All reference to the dominion of Christ must be removed.

The good news is that one day soon all the Kingdoms of this World including Canada will become the Kingdom of our God and of his anointed.

In an official statement on July 8th Pope Benedict XVI described the Islamic terorist attacks on London as "anti-human" and "anti-Christian". He subsequently called the murder of the Egyptian envoy to Iraq as "atrocious and barbaric" and he said it was "against every human and religious sentiment".

It was not long before we saw the Islamist response. A web statement from a group claiming to have links to AI-Quaeda praised the London bombing and went on to say,

On July 25th a fresh warning against Rome was issued by a group called Abu Hafs Masri Brigades.

One security source has suggested that one of AI-Quaeda's prime targets is expected to be the Vatican which militant Islamists see as a centre of crusader Christendom.

Remember that story in the early 90's about the geologists in Russia who dug so deep they heard screams from people in hell? Well, a man named Rich Buhler finally investigated it. TBN ran the story after getting it from two sources.

The first was a Norwegian man named Age Rendalen. They translated it from a Finnish newspaper, Ammennusatia, given to them by R.M. Schambach, supposedly a "respected scientific journal." It is not. It is a monthly publication by Finnish Christians.

They got it by word of mouth from someone who remembered reading it in a Finnish newspaper, Etela Soumen. They said it was not an article, but in a section of letters where people could write anything they wanted.

The elderly man who wrote the article said he got it from a Christian newsletter called Vaeltajat, published by Finnish missionaries.

The editor of Vaeltajat said it was printed in their July 1989 issue. He had received it from a reader who got it from a newsletter called "Jewels of Jericho", published by a group of Jewish Christians in California.

Rich Buhler concludes with, "And that is where the Finnish trail came to an end."

Except that he also contacted Age Rendalen, the Norwegian who had first confirmed the story to TBN. He said,

"I fabricated every word of it! I couldn't believe that the hosts really thought the story was true and that they would broadcast it without apparently having checked it out."

Tommy Johnston had been a lifelong British Israel believer and had been a staunch supporter of Open-Bible Fellowship since we came to the Cregagh area of Belfast almost thirty years ago. Because of age and declining health Tommy entered a nursing home a few months ago and had not been able to attend meetings. He passed to his rest in the Lord on Saturday 27th August and Pastor Campbell and Mr Brittain were in attendance at his funeral on Wednesday 31st August.

Open-Bible members in Belfast and Newtownards extend their deepest sympathy to Mr and Mrs R. Brown on the death of their grandson, Craig Ennis, in a tragic car crash.
