As war once again looms over the Middle East we need to examine anew, the origins of the Arab people.

“Ishmael, in the Old Testament, the elder son of the Hebrew patriarch Abraham, and reputed ancestor of a group of Arab tribes. The region occupied by these Ishmaelites included most of Central and Northern Arabia. Muslims regard themselves as the descendants of Ishmael.”

"Ishmaelite - a descendant of Ishmael, the son of Abraham and Hagar - The 12 sons of Ishmael became princes and progenitors of as many tribes - all Arabs claim descent from Ishmael.”

“Ishmaelites - a people frequently mentioned in the Bible - they were Arab nomads - they were divided into twelve tribes. The Arabs themselves derive their descent from Ishmael”

Their conversion to the Islamic religion around 630 A.D. draws them into Jihad or Holy War. At one point they conquer from the Plains of India to the Pyrenees in Spain, also the Balkans to the gates of Vienna in 1685 A.D.

The recent Atlantic Monthly Magazine, (March 2002) has a highly relevant article that can be cited as confirming how deadly is the impact from even being around Swine, and the related, eating of the flesh of Swine, Pork!

This March issue article, titled, "1491" offers an unusual thesis - that there were far more native Americans in the New World, both North and South America than has been attributed by historians who simply focus on Columbus and subsequent explorers to these continents. All pre-history that is prior to the advent of Columbus is disdainfully considered by those who influenced the textbooks and taught in schools. Much of what was and is presented, is purposely focused on what the Catholic church supported, especially in Europe and as influenced by the Jesuits who followed along with the Spanish Military forces.

But that is another point. This article refers to some of the historical reports of the earliest explorers and what they brought with them that decimated the natives. Fully 100 years before the Pilgrims landed in New England, many others, English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese mariners had regularly plied the coastline of the America's trading for goods and kidnapping locals as slaves. Many of these earliest travellers saw that much of the land in America was thickly settled and well defended. Champlain tried to set up a fort on Cape Cod but there were too many people there - another , Ferdinando Gorges, tried to do the same in Maine, but could not due to the many locals. In the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan the Spaniards gawped like hayseeds at the wide streets, ornately carved buildings, and markets bright with goods from hundreds of miles away. So the Indians were here in far greater numbers than previously thought and they had made an impact on the environment.

In 1539, Hernando De Soto landed in Tampa Florida area, marched inland with a large force, 200 horses, 600 troops and, 300 pigs. En route to the northern regions, he found large fortified towns and thousands of people in clusters of small cities in current Georgia and westward into current Arkansas and the Mississippi. But when the next Europeans went into those same areas almost 100 years later, there was nothing like what De Soto had found. The cites were gone, the people had almost disappeared, and even the game had been depleted.

Now, there had to be a cause for this massive loss of people, and it came from something far worse than the human diseases brought to the natives by the Europeans…It was the pigs, which bred profusely and since swine alone can disseminate anthrax, brucellosis, leptospirosis, taeniasis, trichinosis and tuberculosis, they became the source of the infections and diseases that decimated the humans and animals alike. And it was not just De Soto. La Salle as well, also made his contribution to the destruction of the native populations.

A good reference to this can be found in the annals of the Pilgrims. When they landed they found an abandoned town, crops growing and no one around. The natives had all died from smallpox and measles. But the point is that the swine contributed the most damage to the native populations as well as the wildlife. Consider this comment alone:

"About fifty settlements were found in a strip along the Mississippi when De Soto showed up, but when La Salle came through there in 1682, the number had shrunk to ten and some were probably inhabited by recent immigrants. Soto had a privileged glimpse of the Indian world, Hudson says. The window opened and slammed shut. But a disaster of immense magnitude suggests an epidemic of huge proportions."

"And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you." - Leviticus 11:6-8 (KJV)

"A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick; Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels." - Isaiah 65:3-4 (KJV)

On Nov. 2, 1917, Arthur James Balfour, then British Foreign Secretary, conveyed the following statement in a letter to Lord Rothschild:

“His Majesty’s Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a nattonal home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall he done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country.”

The British Government issued “the White Paper” in May of 1939, in which they said “The Framers of the Mandate in which the Balfour Declaration was embodied could not have intended that Palestine be converted into a Jewish State against the will of the Arab population of the country”

A joint Anglo-American committee was set up (Great Britain and the United States) and this committee issued the following statement in 1945:

“We regard it as essential...that Jew shall not dominate Arab and Arab shall not dominate Jew in Palestine; that Palestine shall be neither a Jewish state nor an Arab state; ...Palestine must ultimately become a state which guards the rights and interests of Moslem, Jews and Christians alike... We therefore, emphatically declare that Palestine is a Holy Land, sacred to Christians, to Jew and Moslem alike; and because it is a Holy Land, Palestine is not, and never can become, a land which any race or religion can justly claim as its own...the fact that, it is the Holy Land, sets Palestine completely apart from other lands, and dedicates it to the precepts and practices of the brotherhood of man, not those of narrow nationalism.”

So what happened? The Zionist state was illegally set up in 1948, the Arabs persecuted and driven from their lands. Now the pendulum swings back and the Arabs are marshalling to drive the Zionists out.

Jerusalem and the surrounding countryside continue to be the “cup of trembling” and “burdensome stone” Zechariah forecast.

Because our Queen and members of the Royal Family are being drawn into an Ecumenical and Multi Faith web of intrigue which undermines the Coronation Oath. In addition to the Roman Catholic Cardinal preaching to the Royal Family in January, the following articles from Christian Voice, P.O. Box 62 Royston, HERTS SG8 7UL give us cause for prayerful concern.

Buckingham Palace recently released details of The Queen’s visits to faith communities over the Golden Jubilee. The Queen wished as part of her Jubilee programme to celebrate with British non-Christian communities. The four largest such groups are Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Jewish. The Queen will be visiting each of these faiths in separate visits over the summer across the United Kingdom.

Other Members of the Royal Family will also be making visits to religious communities over the Jubilee period.

The Duke of York is to attend a Baha’i reception in Central London in July, the Earl and Countess of Wessex will visit a Jain Temple in Leicester and a Zoroastrian Thanksgiving Service in North London and a senior Member of the Royal Family will attend a Buddhist gathering later in the year. The purpose of each of these visits is to indicate respect for the diversity of faiths, to support inter-faith dialogue and to show that non-Christian as well as Christian communities are central to contemporary Britain.

On the evening of 10th June The Queen will hold a reception at Buckingham Palace for representatives of different faith communities.

Prince Charles is calling for greater tolerance of other cultures after September 11, far right gains in the French elections and the rise of the British National Party.

The prince said: “Over the past year, we have seen, internationally, nationally and locally, all too many examples of intolerance to others."

“Tolerance is an easy word to pronounce, but it seems to be very difficult to enact in our lives. And yet it is such a tragedy that when the various faith communities have so much in common, its members should so often be divided by the different ways we have of interpreting the inner meaning of our existence.”

The Queen has dismissed any suggestion she might abdicate by vowing to continue serving “the people of this great nation of ours”.

During her Golden Jubilee address to both Houses of Parliament she expressed her “pride in our past and my confidence in the future".

She stated: “We also take pride in our tradition of fairness and tolerance - the consolidation of our richly multicultural and multifaith society, a major development since 1952, is being achieved remarkably peacefully and with much goodwill.”

She concluded: “I would like above all to declare my resolve to continue, with the support of my family, to serve the people of this great nation of ours to the best of my ability through the changing times ahead.”

It is only the fifth time during her reign that the monarch has made such an address.

As our American friends celebrate yet another Thanksgiving, we are reminded that not only is the United States the great Mannasseh nation of Bible Prophecy - but it is also the land where all 13 Tribes are representatively regathered in these ‘last days’ the Christian era of Prophecy. Amongst those tribes was Naphtali, whose descendants are found amongst the Swedes to-day.

During the 17th Century Sweden was a European “great power” whose territory included parts of Norway, Finland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and even portions of the German and Polish coast. The Baltic was a Swedish lake and their King Gustavus Adolphus, the “Lion of the North” was the Protestant champion during the Thirty Years War.

The Swedes sought to establish colonies in the New World and in 1637 they formed the New Sweden Company to trade in Furs and Tobacco in North America. Under the command of Peter Minuit the first expedition sailed from Sweden in two ships, Kalmar Nyckel and Fogel Grip, in 1637. Minuit had been Governor of the Dutch colony on Manhattan island from 1626 - 1631.

The ships reached Delaware Bay in 1638 and the settlers built a fort named Christina in honour of their Queen, where Wilmington is situated to-day. New Sweden was at its height from 1643 - 1653. A new fort named Elfsborg was built near to where Salem, New Jersey is to-day. Some 600 Swedes and Finns established farms and settlements on both sides of the Delaware River in modern Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and into Maryland.

However, New Sweden was to be conquered by the Dutch Governor Peter Stuyvesant of New Amsterdam (modern New York). Swedish sovereignty had come to an end, but the Swedes and Finns remained and came under British rule in 1681 when William Penn received his Charter for Pennsylvania and the three lower counties which make up present day Delaware.

Swedes and Finns did not come again to America in large numbers until the mid 19th Century. Swedish immigration was at its height from 1867-1914. In the mid 1880’s, 37,000 Swedes per year on average arrived in USA heading West to settle in Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Texas and California, which remain states with large numbers of Swedish Americans to this day.

“A World Empire such as the British is a work of God. The British Empire was not created by human plans. No other nation on earth can destroy the British Empire, for it is necessary for the defence of liberty in the world.”

Mr Eccles was called suddenly to his rest in his ninetieth year on Saturday 21st September. He had been in good health and had attended the Newtownabbey meeting just two weeks previously. He maintained a bright testimony to the Full Gospel, the Kingdom Message and the Reformed Faith. Thompson like his late brother Sam and his sister Jean Millar, was a faithful supporter of Open-Bible Ministries and we shall all miss him. We extend our sincere sympathy to his daughter Ellie Mills, his nephew Gordon Eccles and to all the family circle.

We were also saddened to learn of the passing of another great servant of God, Pastor Albert Edsor, who had been the pianist for Principal George Jeffreys' Revival Party. Pastor Edsor was in his ninety second year and to the last he had maintained a strong testimony for the Foursquare Gospel, the Israel Identity and Protestant Truth. The funeral was conducted by Pastor Gilbert Cozens.
