THE 400th ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNION OF THE CROWNS 1603 - 2003
King James VI & I Elizabeth I of England, the last great Tudor Monarch died in March 1603. She had saved English Protestantism when she succeeded her Roman Catholic sister “Bloody Mary” who had been responsible for the death of 300 Protestant Martyrs. She had seen the defeat of Philip of Spain and his Armada. She had given invaluable assistance to the Dutch Protestants of the United Provinces in their war with Spain. Who was to succeed her? The only legitimate Protestant heir was King James VI of Scotland, son of the notorious Mary Queen of Scots. His claim to the English throne went right back to his great-grandmother Margaret Tudor, sister of Henry VIII, who had married King James IV of Scotland. His Royal House of Stuart traced their descent back to Marjory, the daughter of King Robert the Bruce, who in turn traced his ancestry back to King Kenneth McAlpine, the first King of the Picts and the Scots. Kenneth’s line of descent went back to King Fergus of Ireland and eventually to Zedekiah’s daughter, the princess of Judah, who was brought to Ireland by the prophet Jeremiah; and so ultimately right back to Israel’s King David. When James VI of Scotland became James I of England he created the basis of the present United Kingdom, under its Royal Davidic Monarchy. Thus were the Two Sticks of Ezekiel 37, united as the prophecy had foretold. Ephraim in England and Judah in Scotland were now one nation. The first King of Great Britain was to give us a new flag, the basis of our present Union Jack (the flag of the Union of Jacob). He was to be responsible for the Plantation of Ulster, sending over many thousands of Scottish Protestants to settle in Northern Ireland. He was directly by way of the Jamestown Settlement in Virginia, and indirectly by the Pilgrim Fathers leaving England in search of civil and religious liberty; responsible for Anglo-Saxon colonization of North America. Above all else he was responsible for giving us our Authorised King James Version of the Bible. LET US REJOICE, COMMEMORATE AND CELEBRATE, THIS 400TH ANNIVERSARY OF 1603, THE YEAR OF DESTINY!
THE SCOTTISH DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE THERE is a document of immense age, of supreme interest to British Israelites, but which is seen by few, owing to their ignorance of its existence, lying in the Register House at Edinburgh. This document is a parchment, to which are attached some twenty red and green seals (being the seals of the subscribing Scottish Nobles). It was drawn up by Bernard de Linton, Abbot of Aberbrothock and Chancellor of Scotland, in the year 1320; and was sent to Pope John XXII “by the Scottish Estates in Parliament assembled in the Abbey of Aberbrothock under the Presidency of King Robert the Bruce”, and is dated the 6th April, A.D. 1320. Officials of the Register House have described it as “probably our most precious possession”, and it may be seen in a shallow glass case in the Register House at Edinburgh. King Edward II of England had failed in his attempt to subjugate Scotland, having met a crushing defeat at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1317. He enlisted the support of the Pope (John XXII), to whom he sent lavish gifts of jewels, as a result of which the Pope refused to acknowledge the Bruce as King of Scotland, and, indeed, sent emissaries to him with a view to securing his submission to the English King. These Papal messengers - Cardinal Gaucelin and Cardinal Luke - were not received by the Scottish King, who would not even read their letters. Instead, he summoned the Scottish Parliament, and the document proclaiming the independence of the Scottish people was drawn up and despatched. The point of particular interest to us is the remarkable testimony which this document contains concerning the origin and previous migrations of the Scottish people - a declaration which, it must be remembered, is attested by the seals of not only King Robert the Bruce, but of all the Scottish Nobles of the day. It is not, therefore, a statement by a single (possibly fallible) historian but the official declaration of a King and his Estates in Parliament assembled; consequently being of overwhelming authority. Space forbids quoting the whole document, or even the full list of the names of the signatories, and I must refer readers to the “Scot’s Magazine”, issued April 1934, in which an article by Mr. R. L. Mackie provides full information, including a facsimile reproduction of the parchment itself, together with a translation. TRANSLATION “We know, Most Holy Father and Lord, and from the chronicles and books of the ancients gather, that among other illustrious nations, ours, to wit the nation of the Scots, has been distinguished by many honours; which passing from the greater Scythia through the Mediterranean Sea and Pillars of Hercules, and sojourning in Spain among the most savage tribes through a long course of time, could nowhere be subjugated by any people however barbarous; and coming thence one thousand two hundred years after the outgoing of the people of Israel, they, by many victories and infinite toil, acquired for themselves the possessions in the West which they now hold. . . . In their kingdom one hundred and thirteen kings of their own royal stock, no stranger intervening, have reigned.” It is surely deeply interesting to have this statement, so unimpeachably attested, that the ancestors of the Scottish people came from Greater Scythia, sojourned awhile in Spain, and settled in Scotland 1,200 years after the going out of the people of Israel. Further information concerning it can be obtained from Volume I of the Acts of the Parliament of Scotland, or Part II of the National Manuscripts of Scotland.
ALARMING NEWS REPORTS FROM THE MIDDLE EAST

KING JAMES VERSION’S IMPACT ON MODERN ENGLISH One of the more interesting features of the King James Bible is the fact that it enriched our language with many Hebrew idioms. To refresh the reader’s memory, an idiom is a brief expression that has a real meaning quite different from the literal sense of the words. For example, “to kick the bucket” means to die, but has nothing to do with a literal bucket. Every language is loaded with these expressions. What is interesting is this: many common idioms that are used by every native English speaker were originally introduced into the English language by the King James Bible. One biblical scholar, William Rosenau described this process:- “The [King James Bible] is an almost literal translation of the Masoretic Text, and is thus on every page replete with Hebrew idioms... Bible English has to a marvellous extent shaped our speech, giving peculiar connotations to many words... The [King James Bible] has been - it can be said without any fear of being charged with exaggeration - the most powerful factor in the history of English literature. “ Have a look at this brief list of familiar idioms. They were originally Hebrew, having been introduced to our language by the King James Bible. “to fall flat on his face” (Numbers 22:31) “to pour out one’s heart” (Psalm 62:8) “the land of the living” (Job 28:13) “sour grapes” (Ezekiel 18:2) “from time to time” (Ezekiel 4:10) “the skin of my teeth” (Job 19:20) “to see the writing on the wall” (Daniel 5:5) “a fly in the ointment”’ (Ecclesiastes 10:1) “a drop in the bucket” (Isaiah 40:15) “the salt of the earth” (Matthew 5:13) “to give up the ghost” (Mark 15:37) “and it came to pass” (Mark 1:9) “To wash your hands” of a situation (Matthew 27:25) .....and numerous other passages
MY PERSONAL TESTIMONY OF THE KING JAMES' BIBLE by Pastor Dan Gayman I believe the Authorized King James Bible to be the plenary, inspired, and inerrant Word of God. I accept this Bible as the only available translation in the English language that contains the preserved Word of God as revealed in the originally inspired and inerrant Hebrew and Greek Scriptures. There has been no advanced revelation since the inspired Word of God was given in the original Hebrew and Greek. God has never reinvented the Bible. The textual lineage which preced- ed and continued with the Authorized King James Version is the providentially preserved Word given by original inspiration in the Hebrew and Greek. I do not believe there is any need to continue to search for the inerrant Word of God among the plethora of English translations available now. The Word of God is settled in heaven (Psalm 119:89) and on earth. There should be no doubt or confusion about the providential preservation of the inerrant Word of God as found in the Authorized King James Version. By faith we believe that the Authorized King James Version contains the originally inspired Word that has been providentially preserved through time and history. Any omissions, word changes, and dynamic equivalency of modern English translations we reject. The Codex Vaticanus and Sinaiticus and any modem English translations that descend from them must be rejected. The idea that the true text of the Bible was lost for a thousand years or more until Vaticanus turned up in the Vatican Library and Codex Sinaiticus was found in a wastebasket at St. Catherine’s Convent must be rejected. The various readings in the modern English translations do not reflect the providentially preserved Word of God as contained in the Authorized King James Version. Things that are different cannot be the same. Subtle omissions, word changes, and dynamic equivalency of the new English versions have perverted the Word of the Living God (Jeremiah 23:36). It is evident that the assault against the inerrant Word of God began when Satan asked this question of Eve in the Garden of Eden: “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” (Genesis 3:1). Jeremiah 23:36 confirms that the Word of God was being perverted in his day Likewise, St. Paul declared that false teachers were corrupting the Word of God in his day (II Corinthians 2:17). Jesus Christ and the Apostles warned repeatedly that false teachers would corrupt the truth of God (i.e., Matthew 7:15; 24:3-5,11,24; II Corinthians 11:1-15; Galatians 1:6-9; Colossians 2:8; I Timothy 4:1-4; II Timothy 3:13; II Peter 2:1-22; I John 2:18-26; 4:1; Jude 4). It is obvious that new generations of English translations of the Bible are an attempt to dilute, diminish, and alter God’s Word. The flood-gates have already been opened through dynamic equivalency translation. The present omissions, word changes, and textual changes in the modern English versions reflect even greater changes as second generation Bibles (?) are spawned from these paraphrased versions. This perversion of the Word of God will surely, among other things, degender God and make major intrusions into historic Christian doctrine. We encourage the use of dictionaries, lexicons, and concordances to bring clarification to words appearing in the Authorized King James Version. We do not believe that these tools should be used to correct the inerrant Word of God, however. We believe that correcting the Bible is an indication of presumption and pride in the heart of man. Those who read the providentially preserved Word of God in the Authorized King James Version have the formal equivalency of the originally inspired Hebrew and Greek Scriptures in their hands. The Authorized King James Version represents the highest literary form of the English language; its daily use will cultivate this high standard in the lives of God’s Covenant People. Readers of the Authorized King James Version are encouraged to look up the meaning of any words that are presently obscure. Readers of the Authorized King James Version should also employ these obscure words instead of rejecting the beautiful language, and thus be guilty of dumbing down the vocabulary of modern English. Those who believe that the originally inspired Word of God in the Hebrew and Greek has been providentially preserved in the Authorized King James Bible can move forward by faith and build upon the absolute and infallible Word of God. Let the children of God reject every form of unbelief and faithlessness. Faith in God, not trust in human scholarship, is what the Christian remnant must live by. The formal equivalency of the Authorized King James Version has providentially preserved the plenary, inspired, and inerrant Word of God which appeared in the original Hebrew and Greek oracles. The absolute and infallible Word of God faithfully and providentially preserved in the Authorized King James Bible is the greatest legacy we can give our children. The God of Israel has not left His children without an absolute, infallible, inspired, Word that has been providentially preserved. Let us not remove this precious landmark from the spiritual landscape of our children, and their children’s children. For those who speak English, the Bible of record for our personal use, family use, and corporate (Church) use must be one Bible: the Authorized King James Bible! To the praise and glory of Jesus Christ, our God has given us an inspired Word which has been providentially preserved. Because God has given us an absolute Word, we can build absolute truth. I receive this absolute and infallible Word handed down from my believing forefathers. It is a Bible which has been soaked with the blood of fearless martyrs. I testify to the sovereign hand of God preserving the text and ever guiding the human hands He called to preserve His Word. My faith is not in Erasmus, Calvin, Luther, Beza, King James, or in the human hands that have handled the Word of Life, from Moses to the Apostles to the Authorized Version Committee. My faith is in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who gave His English speaking people the pure Word of God in the Received Text during the 16th and 17th century translations. I receive that Word today in the only English Translation that is readily available: the Authorized King James Bible. From time immemorial, the red hand has been a prominent emblem in the heraldry of Ireland. Its origin is so ancient that it has become clouded in the mists of time. Today, it stands as the primary emblem of Ulster, and appears on many of its postage stamps.
Here we see the official arms of Ulster: a red hand set in a six-pointed star, surmounted by a royal diadem. Like the rampant lion, the red hand has always symbolized royalty. It was in fact the emblem of the ancient Milesian Kings of Ireland. These princes are called in the pages of history CuriAthe nA CrAobh RuAoh, meaning, Knights of the Scarlet Branch. However. O’Halloran. in his History of Ireland (1778), insists that CrAobh should actually read Crobh, Knights of the Scarlet Hand. We believe this is correct in light of the ancient arms. What this editor would like to know is: Why a scarlet hand? What does a red hand have to do with royalty? And why is it that these particular kings owned the symbol of the red hand? I believe the answer may be found in the pages of Holy Scripture. In Genesis 38:27- 30 we read: "And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins [were] in her womb. And it came to pass, when she travailed, that [the one] put out [his] hand: and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first. And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? [this] breach [be] upon thee : therefore his name was called Pharez. And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah.” This is the account of the birth of the twins sons of Judah. As we read, their mother, Tamar, had a difficult delivery, and it is not truly clear who was born first, Zarah or Pharez. The Word of God declares: “The sceptre shall not depart from Judah..." This was obviously an honour which would be handed down throughout the generations of the family of Judah. Judah was the royal patrarch of Israel. But to whom would the sceptre be passed after the death of judah? Biblically, we know the sceptre passed to Pharez and his descendants. But in the genealogy listed in Matthew 1:3, we see both Pharez and Zarah listed equally. It is the only link in the genealogy where this occurs. We feel it Is impossible but that there was a dispute between these two royal brothers over who should rule. Zarah no doubt felt he should have a kingdom, and there is no question but that he would have cited the red cord around his hand at birth as the proof of this right. But he would go elsewhere to rule. But where? Could Zarah and his progeny have gone to the Emerald Isle? Why do the “knights of the red hand" appear in Ireland at about the same time Zarah and his children disappear from the pages of Scripture? And why does the arms of Ulster depict the red hand in a six-pointed star, a known Israelitish symbol?
Reproduced with the kind permission of the Aletheia Herald “Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people.” (Leviticus 19:16) Cattlemen call this sickness "the hoof and mouth disease". Some people have nothing to offer others in life and so they peddle this poison from the pit. “A talebearer revealeth secrets. . therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.” (Proverbs 11:13; 20:19) This forked tongue, pathetic apology for a human being, not only brings, but carries from us to others! Our smile, the fact we entertained his dialogue, permitted him to excrete his filth in our presence, classifies us as his closest kin. When we rebuke him and withdraw our welcome mat, we display a breed of courage he knows nothing about. Today we’re all wrestling with the forces of spiritual wickedness. As God’s children we’re to be known as “the peacemakers”. Who among us doesn’t appreciate helping hands? "Heaviness in the heart of a man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.” (Proverbs12:25) When we cannot speak well of a brother, is it not better to remain silent? Taken from the writings of Rev Otis B. Read, D.D. - Founder of Joppa Gospel /Tabernacle Ministries AUSTRALIAN LAW RESTRICTS USE OF NAMES ON PRAYER LISTS Australia’s Daily Telegraph has reported that a Privacy Act that took effect in the country recently restricts churches from placing names on prayer lists in bulletins unless the organisers are given specific permission. It was also reported that clergy are finding it increasingly difficult to visit patients in hospitals because of privacy legislation restrictions. Anglican Bishop Roger Herft of Newcastle, was reported as taking the view that the Act “detracts from the spontaneity of comfort a person derives when they unexpectedly hear their name read aloud on the prayer list”. He said that while he understood an individual’s legal rights must be respected, people also were “part of the human family and should be able to care for each other without restrictions”. The Bishop concluded: “It would seem to me that the Privacy Act, if it is not used sensibly, can contribute to the biggest disease of mankind and that is loneliness. People can feel completely left out of the loop if we are not careful.” (ENS) Shine, mighty God, on Britain shine, With beams of heavenly grace; Reveal Thy power through all our coasts, And show Thy smiling face.
Amidst our Isles, exalted high, Do Thou our glory stand; And like a wall of guardian fire, Surround the favoured land.
When shall Thy name from shore to shore, Sound all the earth abroad, And distant nations know and love Their Saviour and their God?
Sing to the Lord, ye distant lands, Sing loud with solemn voice, While British tongues exalt His praise And British hearts rejoice.
He, the great Lord, the Sovereign Judge, That sits enthroned above, Wisely commands the worlds He made, In justice and in love.
