PENTECOST AND ANGLO-ISRAEL

The last Sunday in May, called Whitsunday we will be remembering the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem at the Feast of Pentecost, 2000 years ago. God has been moving in a similar manner throughout the twentieth century and it is of special interest that many early pioneers of this Pentecostal experience were convinced believers in the Anglo-Israel Message, George Jeffreys, the Williams brothers, Charles Parham, F. Bosworth, to name but a few. It is also of interest to note that as with the glorious Reformation itself, the restoration of the Pentecostal, power, gifts and anointing came first to the nations of regathered Israel, namely the Celto-Anglo-Saxon, Dutch, Scandinavian and Germanic peoples of North Western Europe, who by the beginning of the twentieth century had spread in fulfilment of prophecy to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and white South Africa.

That God restored the Pentecostal blessing to these nations was a fulfilment of the prophecy which states:

"Fear not 0 Jacob my servant and thou Jesurun whom I have chosen; for I will pour water upon him that is thirsty and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed and my blessing upon thine offspring." - ISAIAH 44: 2-3

"And the remnants of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the Lord, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man; nor waiteth for the sons of men." -  MICAH 5:7

Show me the nations who accepted the Reformation, the Open-Bible, and the Protestant Faith, who have taken the Gospel to the four corners of the earth, and whose people rejoice in the Pentecostal blessing, and I will show you the so-called "Lost Tribes" of Israel found.

A SAD DAY FOR CANADA

Saskatoon bans Lord's Prayer in Schools

SASKATOON - The practice of children reciting the Lord's Prayer in Saskatoon's public schools was ruled a violation of human rights yesterday.

Ken Halvorson of the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission declared the prayers discriminatory because they interfere with the freedom of religion for all students.

Halvorson, a retired judge who headed a board of inquiry on the issue earlier this month, ordered the schools to end prayers in classrooms and assemblies.

" We're very elated," said Rosanne Langer, one of the nine parents who launched the challenge.

The commission recommended the Saskatoon public school board "shed its image as a backwater of religious intolerance" by ceasing to obey a 1901 provincial law that ordered recitation of the Lord's Prayer.

Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia have already ruled that reciting the Lord's Prayer in schools interferes with freedom of religion provisions in provincial human rights codes and in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

During the hearing, the school board argued the commission didn't have jurisdiction because it was superseded by the Constitution, which under the laws that brought Saskatchewan into Confederation allows the Lord's Prayer and Bible readings.

The board argued the 1901 law prohibited it from stopping the prayers.

Nevertheless, Halvorson said, the practice is inconsistent with the Constitution.

QUOTES

"The time for individual nations (in Europe) having their own tax employment and social policies is definitely over. We must also finally bury the erroneous idea of nations having sovereignty over foreign and defence policies. National sovereignty will soon prove itself to be a product of the imagination." - Gerhard Schroeder, Chancellor of Germany (January 1999).

The European Union's finance commissioner,Yves-Thibault de Silguy, who masterminded the launch of the single currency last January, delivered a blast to Britain's Euro-sceptics for doubting the importance of monetary Union: "First, they said it would never happen. Then they said it would be delayed. Now they question whether it will last. Do not make the same mistake again! EMU is not a leap in the dark. It is an important step in the process of full European integration. Once a rocket is launched there is no going back!"

"Why does Europe need 15 Foreign Ministers when one is enough? Why do memberstales still need national armies? One European is enough!" - Hans Eichel German Finance Minister (1999).

"Germany as the biggest and most powerful economic member state will be the leader (of Europe) whether you like it or not!" - Theo Waigel, former German Minister (1997).

The newly-appointed President designate of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, speaking on the BBC in May this year, confirmed that the logical next step in the integration of Europe was the creation of an EU army comprising elements of all member states. Earlier, he stated: "The single market was the theme the Eighties: the single currency was the theme of the Nineties, now we must face the difficult task of moving towards a single political unity."

"Europe has never existed except, as being the totalitarian ambition of dictators like Napoleon, Hitler, Charlemagne. and Charles V. It's an area open to the admission of a few madmen, with no unity of any kind - no linguistic unity, no cultural unity, no common view of things, no common destiny ever... it is a total mystery." - Jaques Attali, principal advisor to President Mitterand of France (1981-95).

"Patriotism is the correct and just love for one's identity as a member of a certain national community" - Pope John Paul II (Rome, 1993). He went on to say that the negation of patriotism is nationalism. "While patriotism also shows esteem for others, nationalism despises all that is not one's own." - (A lesson His Irish flock need to learn!)

"The Europe of Maastricht is the Europe of the war. Why? - Because we are threatened in Europe with tribal wars inside member states" - Jean-Claude Barreau, French political analyst, writing in 1997.

THE SECRETS OF GREAT OVERCOMERS

By

Pastor Dan Gayman

What are the character qualities that have consistently produced great overcomers? What is the magic formula that has carried so many great men and women forward in their faith? Is it possible to probe into the secrets which have made victorious and overcoming champions of the faith? A close evaluation of the conquering heroes of the past will unquestionably reveal the following secrets as being central to their victorious over-coming lives.

All great overcomers hold to a strong personal faith and commitment in the Lord Jesus Christ. They are personally disciplined to being a follower of Jesus Christ. This means that they grow accustomed to the practice of self-denial. The cause of Jesus Christ becomes greater for them than any other cause or reason for living. Self-denial is a willingness to suffer self sacrifice for the cause of Jesus Christ. Such are the people Jesus Christ had in mind when he declared: "if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me" (LUKE 9:23).

Overcoming victors also live by a great vision of the Kingdom and refuse to be distracted by the irritations that would often cripple ordinary people. When a person is able to keep focused on the greater vision of the Kingdom and knows that every trial and disappointment in life is transitory and passing, they will be willing to endure whatever comes along, because something far greater lies in the future. Indeed such people are looking for "a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God" (HEBREWS 11:10).

Great overcomers are also able to respond effectively to adversity and disappointment. Such people know that we live in a fallen world. They understand that life will he filled with disappointments, some of them great, and they purpose to make the best of the worst kind of situation. They are willing to accept trials and adversities to take on the image and character of the Lord Jesus Christ. They are able to see that what others meant for evil, God has intended for good (GENESIS 50:20). A primary secret shared by all overcomers is the ability to know and believe that "all things work together for good" (ROMANS 8:28).

Another great secret of overcomers is their ability to extend forgiveness to others, regardless of what the offence might be. A forgiving spirit and the ability to release all bitterness and revenge that might otherwise be directed to the offender are major assets for all overcoming Christians. The ability to absolutely forgive all offenders and leave all judgments in the hands of a sovereign God is an indispensable quality shared by all overcomers. Forgiveness practiced as a daily virtue becomes one of the greatest spiritual strengths that can be developed in the life of an overcoming Christian.

Overcoming and victorious Christians also know that they must always focus on the positive side of things. When the mind is allowed to dwell on the negative factors of any given situation, there is no victory, no joy, and no solutions to any given problem. When we learn to rise above the clutter and clamor of negative thinking and talking, and focus our minds on the positive, reassuring words of God, life becomes a series of turning defeats into victories. We can will to be joyful and happy in our circumstances. We can will to love when there is nothing much to love. We can will to forgive when something is really unforgiveable. We can purpose to always see the glass half filled instead of half empty.

One of the major secrets shared by all overcoming Christians is a commitment to spend time alone with God every day. This time spent alone enables them to renew their spiritual strength in God, through a living faith in Jesus Christ as they personalize their faith in prayer and by means of reading and meditating upon the Word of God. The quiet minutes spent alone with God and His Word are necessary in building the reserve of spiritual energy necessary to climb mountains that for most people are unapproachable. The heart that is truly bent on serving Jesus Christ will know that all spiritual strength must come from God and God alone.

Another secret of great overcomers is their willingness to make personal sacrifice for the cause of the Lord Jesus Christ. Personal sacrifice is often necessary to bring forth an acceptable offering to God our Father for the cause of His Kingdom. The willingness to make personal sacrifices for the cause of Jesus Christ will test the true mettle of any man or woman. What are we willing to give up to serve Jesus Christ? Will we give up our reputation? Will we continue to serve Jesus Christ when we know that the only reward will be ridicule, ostracism, and vilification? Will we continue to serve Jesus Christ when we know that it will cost us both fame and wealth?

A final secret of great overcomers is their willingness to exercise self-control of the tongue and the emotions, to move forward with self-imposed restraints in all areas of life, including expenditures for material possessions, and when necessary, exercising self-judgment of one's faults, as opposed to waiting for others to render judgment upon perceived faults. Self-judgment is necessary to personal change for great overcomers.

FUNNY ISN'T IT?

Funny how a £100 "looks" so big when you take it to church, but so small when you take it to the shopping mall

Funny how long it takes to serve God for an hour, but how quickly a team plays 60 minutes of basketball.

Funny how long a couple of hours spent at church are, but how short they are when watching a movie.

Funny how we can't think of anything to say when we pray, but don't have difficulty thinking of things to talk about to a friend.

Funny how we get thrilled when a baseball game goes into extra innings, but we complain when a sermon is longer than the regular time.

Funny how hard it is to read a chapter in the Bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a best selling novel.

Funny how people want to get a front seat at any game or concert, but scramble to get a back seat at church services.

Funny how we need 2 or 3 weeks advance notice to fit a church event into our schedule, but can adjust our schedule for other events at the last moment.

Funny how hard it is for people to learn a simple gospel well enough to tell others, but how simple it is for the same people to understand and repeat gossip.

Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.

Funny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do not have to believe, or think, or say, or do anything.

Funny how you can send a thousand 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Christ, people think twice about sharing.

FUNNY, ISNT IT?

Are you laughing? Are you thinking?

Spread the Word and give thanks to the Lord for He is good!

ISRAELITES IN NORTH AMERICA BEFORE COLUMBUS

From the Toronto Globe and Mail, 9 August, 1999:

ONTARIO: SCIENTIST SAYS SYMBOLS MAY BE FROM 800 BC

OTTAWA. Scandinavians may have crossed the Atlantic three millenniums ago and made it as far as Peterborough, a Calgary archeologist says.

David Kelley, a retired University of Calgary professor renowned for his work deciphering Mayan script, said rock carvings at Petroglyph Provincial Park that are regarded as the work of aboriginal shamans were probably carved by Europeans about 800 BC. He said the petroglyphs, 40 kilometers northeast of Peterborough, include a depiction of a Viking-like ship almost identical to prehistoric ships carved in a rock near Boslund, Sweden, as well as abstract symbols used as a form of writing by northern Europeans.

Mr. Kelley said the symbols are part of a script called Tiffinagh, which was developed in northern Africa. CP

VIKING DISCOVERY REMEMBERED

Newfoundland has launched celebrations to mark the 1000th anniversary of the Viking discovery of North America. Helge Ingstad and his wife, both Norwegian archeologists, with the help of Newfoundland fisherman, George Decker located and investigated L'Anse aux Meadows, the Viking settlement on the northern tip of Newfoundland in 1960. Ingstad, an authority on ancient Viking manuscripts and folklore, recently turned 100.

There is ample evidence that people from the Mediterranean basin visited North America long before the Vikings. At Beverly, Massachusetts, Roman coins from the 4th century have been washed onto the beach from an off-shore shipwreck, bearing the images of Valentinianus I, Gratianus, Valens and Constantius II.

Also ancient pre-Christian Carthaginian coins have been found in Alabama and Wyoming and inscriptions in the Punic language found as far west as Nevada.

Many inscriptions in Ogam markings, the language of Celtic Iberia (Tarshish) have been found at several North American locations and lately deciphered.

THE HOLY SPIRIT AS OIL

Oil for Illumination. (Exodus 27:20). The normal way of obtaining artificial light was by the use of lamps fed with olive oil. The Holy Spirit gives us light in our dwellings.

Oil for Medication. (Luke 10:34). Oil is soothing and healing. Typical of the Spirit's healing power (James 1:4).

Oil for Personal Application. Refreshing and beautifying. (Psalm 104:15. Esther 2:12). Shining faces when filled with the Spirit.

Oil for Anointing. Priests (Leviticus 8:12), prophets and kings (I Kings 19:16). Messiah, Christ, Anointed One. The Lord Jesus unites in Himself all these offices.

Oil and Blood. Leper touched by blood and oil. (Leviticus 14). Tabernacle instruments sanctified by blood and oil. Our salvation and our service is based on the redemption of Christ and the enabling of the Spirit.

Oil and Water. Cannot mix. So flesh and Spirit will never unite. (Galatians 5:17). Oil comes out on top.

Oil persists. Does not dry up with beat of summer or freeze with cold of winter.

IT CAN'T BE DONE

The man who misses all the fun

Is he who says, "It can't be done."

In solemn pride he stands aloof

And greets each venture with reproof.

Had he the power he'd efface

The history of the human race;

We'd have no radio or cars,

No streets lit by electric stars;

No telegraph nor telephone,

We'd linger in the age of stone.

The world would sleep if things were run

By men who say, "It can't be done."

With God all things are possible (MATTHEW 19:26)
