From "The Independent" Newspaper - April 6, 1996 A letter written by King George VI in 1922 when still Duke of York:-
"I am sure the British Israel business is true. I have read about it lately and everything, no matter how large or small, points to our being 'THE CHOSEN RACE' " THE JUDGEMENT ON ANCIENT BABYLON PROVES THE BIBLE TRUE A Colonel in the Turkish Army once asked Dr. Cyrus Hamlin for a proof that the Bible is the Word of God. Learning that the Colonel had been a great traveller, Dr. Hamlin said to him: “Have you ever been in Babylon?” “Yes,” replied the Colonel, “and I will tell you a curious incident. The ruins of Babylon abound in game and, wishing for a week’s shooting, I engaged a Sheik, with his followers, and went there. At sundown the Arabs, to my amazement, began to strike their tents. I went to the Sheik and protested most strongly; I was paying him handsomely, and I now offered to double the amount. But nothing I could say had any effect." "‘It is not safe,’ said the Sheik, ‘no mortal flesh dare stay here after sunset. Ghosts and ghouls come out of the holes and caverns after dark, and whomsoever they catch becomes one of themselves. No Arab has ever seen the sun go down on Babylon!' " Dr. Hamlin then took out his Bible and read from Isaiah 13:19-22: "And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. It shall never be inhabited; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation; neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there but wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there and satyrs shall dance there. And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces; and her time is near to come and her days shall not be prolonged." “That is the history you have been reading,” said the Turk. “No,” said Dr. Hamlin, “it is a prophecy Those words were written when Babylon was in all her glory; you know what Babylon is today!" The Colonel had not a word to say in reply. Babylon was a wonderful city. Her area was five times as large as that of London. Her wall was at least eighty feet thick and three hundred feet high, with five hundred gates of burnished brass. Enclosed were lakes, parks and 625 city squares. The Prophet Jeremiah said of her: “Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the Lord.” - (JEREMIAH 51:53) The present ruins at Babylon, and the refusal of the Arabs to remain there overnight, constitute a remarkable fulfillment of the quoted prophecies of Isaiah and Jeremiah. We could deal with prophecy after prophecy and point out how history demonstrates the veracity of the Scriptures, with many clear examples showing how the words of the prophets have indeed come to pass. A CHRISTIAN WHO BEGINS TO TITHE WILL HAVE AT LEAST SIX SURPRISES 1) The amount of money he has for the Lord’s work. 2) The deepening of his spiritual life in paying the tithe. 3) The ease of meeting his other obligations with the 9/10ths. 4) The ease of going from one-tenth to larger giving. 5) The preparation this gives to be a faithful steward over the 9/10ths. 6) The failure in not adopting the tithing plan sooner.

short but excellent Biblical study into the identity of God's true Israel
people today)
Sir Winston Churchill has recently been voted the Greatest Personality in British History by British Television viewers NOW Hear Winston Churchill concerning "the impregnable rock of Holy Scripture...” "We reject with scorn all these learned and laboured myths that Moses was but a legendary figure. We believe that the most scientific view, the most up to date and rationalistic conception, will find its fullest satisfaction in taking the Bible literally. We may be sure that all these things happened as they are set out in Holy Writ. In the words of a forgotten work of Mr. Gladstone, we rest with assurance upon ‘the impregnable rock of Holy Scripture...' Let the men of science and of learning expand their knowledge and probe with their researches every detail of the records which have been preserved to us from these dim ages. All they do is to fortify the grand simplicity and essential accuracy of the recorded truths which have lighted so far the pilgrimage of man”. From the testimony of Strabo (54 B.C. - A.D. 34), Pliny (A.D. 23 - 79), Tacitus (A.D. 61 - 117), Ptolemy (A.D. 139 - 161) and other writers, it appears that the advance guard of Israel was, by 58 B.C., occupying the following countries in North West Europe, bordering the North Sea. The Yotar, or Gotar (called by Tacitus, Suiones), in Lower Sweden and Jutland; the Angli and Saxons in Schleswig-Holstein; the Cheruski (Kheruski), and Chauci, and the Fosi, in North West Germany; the Frisii in Holland. Here they were joined, about A.D. 220, by the main body of Israel from Asia-land (originally known as Scythia, capital Asgard, modern Kieff). There they remained, developing their power and their character till the movements to Britain began: first the Saxons under Hengist and Horsa in A.D. 449, then the Angles in 586, the Danes in 787 and finally the Normans in 1066. I WHAT FAMOUS PEOPLE HAVE SAID ABOUT GOD'S LAW Perpetuity of the Law of God, Charles Spurgeon, page 4: “Jesus did not come to change the law, but He came to explain it, and that very fact shows that it remains; for there is no need to explain that which is abrogated. By thus explaining the law He confirmed it. He could not have meant to abolish it, or He would not have needed to expound it. That the Master did not come to abolish the law is clear, because after having embodied it in His life, He willingly gave Himself to bear its penalty, though He had never broken it.” Sermons on Several Occasions, John Wesley, page 75: “The moral law contained in the Ten Commandments and enforced by the prophets Christ did not take away. It was not the design of His coming to revoke any part of this. This is the law which can never be broken.” The Constitution of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America, page 88: "The moral law doth forever bind all, as well justified persons as others, to the obedience thereof, and that not only in regard of the matter contained in it, but also in respect of the authority of God the Creator who gave it.” Commentary on a Harmony of the Gospels, John Calvin, Volume I, page 277: “We must not imagine that the coming of Christ has freed us from the authority of the law; for it is the eternal rule of a devout and holy life, and must therefore, be as unchangeable as the justice of God, which it embraced, is constant and uniform.” Weighed and Wanting, Dwight L. Moody page 11: “Now men may cavil as much as they like about other parts of the Bible, but I have never met an honest man that found fault with the Ten Commandments. Infidels may mock the Lawgiver and reject Him who has delivered us from the curse of the law, but they can’t help admitting that the Ten Commandments are still binding, and that there is a penalty attached to their violation.” Luther’s Works, Martin Luther, Volume 50, page 470: “I wonder exceedingly how it came to be imputed to me that I should reject the law of the Ten Commandments ... Can anyone think that sin exists where there is no law? Whoever abrogates the law, must of necessity abrograte sin also.” Life of Luther, M. Micheler, Volume 4. page 315 (from a sermon by Luther): “He who destroys the doctrine of the law, destroys at the same time political and social order. If you eject the law from the church, there will no longer be any sin recognized as such in the world, for the gospel only defines and punishes sin by reference to the law”

Box 92, Belfast BT5 7SA, Northern Ireland “THROUGH FAITH TURNED TO FLIGHT THE ARMIES OF THE ALIENS” The article in our last “Kingdom Tidings” on “How the Swedes came to America” was so popular that in this edition we are carrying the story of the Swedish King Gustavus Adolphus known as the “Lion of the North” who defended the Protestants of Europe during the Thirty Years War. He truly was an Israelite Warrior King. GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS held the cause of the imperilled Reformation to be his own. The groans of oppressed Germany and of stricken Protestantism rang in his ear; - he looked across the Baltic and beheld the shores of Pomerania swarming with the gorged warriors of the House of Hapsburg and the Church of Rome. Wallenstein led them against the ramparts of Stralsund, the chief stronghold on the Pomeranian coast; but a Swedish garrison, thrown in by Gustavus, beat them back. The King of Sweden but slightly put forth his hand, and for the first time the Roman Catholic host recoiled (1629). Gustavus then deliberately, earnestly, and prayerfully set about the highest endeavour that king or captain ever gave himself to, undertook one of the most daring enterprises of which history bears record, almost more daring than the onslaught of Alexander upon Persia, not less daring than the march of Hannibal into Italy and certainly bolder than the early invasion of Italy by Bonaparte. The king of a poor, thinly-peopled, and insignificant land, the captain of a small army, assisted by some money from France and by some volunteers from England and Scotland, Gustavus flung himself upon the Austrian Caesar, the highest placed and most potent monarch of Europe, in the fullness of strength and in a mid career of conquest, surrounded by more than 100,000 victorious veterans under generals of consummate skill, sustained by the power of Spain, the resources of Italy, and the gold of the Indies. The height of the endeavour was a match for the boldness of the enterprise. Ambition and resentment may have somewhat moved him; but ambition and resentment were the handmaids of a purer and more lofty passion; the love of glory stirred his heart, but the love of glory waited on the love of God. He solemnly consecrated himself and his people, his hand and his brain, his life and soul to the deliverance of his oppressed fellow-believers to the rescue and raising up of Protestantism, sore beset and beaten down, to the preservation of Christendom from the most dreary and deadly yoke that ever threatened it, from the confederate despotism of the House of Austria and the Church of Rome. “And gloriously was the high endeavour fulfilled. The Protestant champion threw himself into Germany with a few thousand men, thronged more mighty deeds into two years and not five months (June 24, 1630 - November 6, 1632) than almost any conqueror, and than certainly any deliverer, ever achieved in the same time. Everything yielded to his patience, his boldness, his genius, and his self-devotion. He hurled back the torrent of Roman Catholic aggression from the shores of the Baltic to the foot of the Alps, from the mouth of the Elbe to the source of the Danube. Stronghold after stronghold was stormed; army after army was defeated; city after city welcomed the Protestant deliverer; prince after prince gathered round the Protestant champion - "Each laurell’d leader down before him went; He went from strength to strength, a wondrous way, Till victory’s dim dawn flamed into fair full day." Tilly and his savage host, defiled and bewildered by the blood-bath of Magdeburg; where 20,000 Protestants were slaughtered at the storming of the hapless city, May 10, 1631, were utterly broken and overthrown at Leipzig four months after, September 7, 1631; and the Roman Catholic captain, overtaken by his terrible pursuer, who had traversed half Germany in the chase, underwent second defeat, and received a mortal wound on the banks of the Lech... The House of Hapsburg, so late the terror of Europe, sank into an object of compassion and contempt. The Church of Rome, arrested its career of reconquest, trembled before the King of the Goths, and beheld in him a new Alaric and Adolph.... The Reformed Churches exulted in their mighty champion, and mourned over his early withdrawal.... Gustavus died the death at once of a martyr and of a hero, selling his devotion to the Protestant faith with his blood, and falling upon the battlefield which he won (Liltzen, November 6, 1632)” - From “The Post Drama" by T.H. Gill.
CAN I SAY THE 'LORD'S PRAYER'? I cannot say Our, if I live in a watertight spiritual compartment; if I think a special place in heaven is reserved for my denomination. I cannot say Father, if I do not demonstrate the relationship in my daily life. I cannot say which art in heaven, if I am so occupied with the earth that I am laying up no treasure there. I cannot say Hallowed be thy name, if I, who am called by His name, am not holy. I cannot say Thy kingdom come, if I am not doing all in my power to hasten its coming. I cannot say Thy will be done, if I am questioning, resentful of or disobedient to His will for me. I cannot say On earth as it is in heaven, if I am not prepared to devote my life here to His service. I cannot say Give us this day our daily bread, if I am living on past experience, or if I am an under-the-counter shopper. I cannot say forgive us our trespasses as we forgive them that trespass against us, if I harbour a grudge against anyone. I cannot say lead us not into temptation, if I deliberately place myself, or remain, in a position where I am likely to be tempted. I cannot say deliver us from evil, if I am not prepared to fight it in the spiritual realm with the weapon of prayer. I cannot say thine is the kingdom, if I do not accord the King the disciplined obedience of a loyal subject. I cannot say thine is the power, if I fear what men may do, or what my neighbours may think. I cannot say thine is the glory, if I am seeking glory for myself. I cannot say for ever and ever, if my horizon is bounded by the things of time. I cannot say Amen, if I do not also add, “Cost what it may”. For to say this prayer honestly will cost everything.
